In Order To Achieve Carbon Zero Emissions, The Transformation Of The Green Industry Is A Must

Deputy Minister of Industry (Wamenperin) Faisol Riza said that the transformation of the industry towards the green industry is no longer an option, but rather a necessity to achieve the Net Zero Emissions (NZE) target by 2060.

Moreover, the industrial sector is a large contributor to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, reaching 34 percent.

"Industrial transformation towards a green industry is no longer an option, but a must for the future of our nation and earth," said Faisol at the 2025 Kick Off 2nd Annual Indonesia Green Industry Summit (AIGIS) at the Ministry of Industry office, Jakarta, Wednesday, December 18.

Faisol said that the Indonesian industrial sector has set a more ambitious target to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 or a decade ahead of the national target.

In order to realize this, the Ministry of Industry has pioneered various efforts, such as formulating a decarbonization roadmap for priority industrial sub-sectors.

"Of course it is not easy because the industry has been running for decades with long schemes and trips, it is not easy. Today with one issue, the green industry is certainly not something that does not get challenged, does not get criticism from the industrial world," said Faisol.

"Because once again this is a matter of mindset, it is often considered that the obligation to implement this green industry is a burden. This is not easy. Changing the industrial mindset is our shared responsibility," he continued.

To note, the implementation of AIGIS 2025 carries the theme "Driving Industrial Decarbonization through Green Industry Ecosystem". AIGIS' main event will also be held on August 20-22, 2025 and is targeted to continue the success of organizing AIGIS 2024 which has succeeded in bringing in more than 1,000 participants from various backgrounds.

The implementation of the Kick-off AIGIS 2025 is the starting point for this series of Summits, as well as opening up space for strategic collaboration between the government, industry, strategic partners to international organizations in strengthening the commitment of the Ministry of Industry regarding national industrial decarbonization.

Head of the Standardization and Industrial Services Policy Agency (BSKJI) of the Ministry of Industry Andi Rizaldi conveyed several series of AIGIS 2025 events including GreenAuto 2025, GreenRun 2025, Greenphoto Competition to the AIGIS 2025 socialization roadshow program. The entire series of events will be held in Jakarta, Bandung, Serang, Surabaya and Semarang.

"One of the other main highlights in the Kick-off of AIGIS 2025 is the launch of the Green Industry Service Company (GISCO) Prepatricy Framework, a strategic initiative designed to accelerate industrial transformation towards sustainability through the development of an integrated ecosystem, including funding, technology and other supporting services," he said.
