Apple Maps Website Adds Look Around Feature

JAKARTA Apple Maps has been accessible through the website since last July, but the feature is still far behind. Over the past few months, Apple Maps has provided only the basic functions needed by users.

However, starting December 11, Apple added the Look Around feature to the web version of Maps. The addition of this new feature makes Apple Maps beta on the website closer to the platform functions on iOS, iPadOS, and also macOS.

If you are more familiar with Google Maps, the Look Around feature is similar to the Street View feature. When searching for a location, Maps users can see the original view from the place and the road around it. That way, users can find out what the place they are looking for.

To use the Look Around feature on the Apple Maps website, you only need to select a binoculars icon in the lower left corner of the window on the map screen. Once the display appears, you can click or drag the appearance of the map to see the place from various sides.

Even though it has been released, not all users can access the Look Around feature. Quoting from the 9to5mac report, Look Around is only available in several cities in the US, Canada, Australia, UK, European Union, and others. This feature is not yet available in Indonesia.

So far, the Apple Maps web version is still in the public beta category. It is not yet known when the stable version will be available as the company plans to add more features and language support in the future.

The Apple Maps web version can be accessed by non-Apple users, such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, to Mozilla Firefox. Apple users can also open Maps website via Safari if their application is in trouble.
