Arriving In Cairo, Presiden Prabowo Disambut Siswa SD WNI Berbuana Adat

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Cairo, Egypt, last Tuesday night and was greeted by high-ranking officials and the Indonesian Embassy in Egypt as well as elementary students and students wearing traditional clothing.

The elementary school children, namely Iffa Nur Hafiza, grade 4 elementary school and Achmad Cheisan Khalifah 6th grade elementary school who were studying in Cairo wore traditional West Sumatra clothing.

They seemed to welcome the President at the hotel where he spent the night located at New Administrative Capital, Egypt.

"So, I wear Padang traditional clothes. And I am very enthusiastic because the President has really motivated us a lot and is also happy to meet," Iffa said as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, December 18.

At the same moment, Iffa said that this was the first time she had met a country leader.

"Wow, I'm so proud, happy. Anyway, I'm happy to be proud of myself when I meet Pak Prabowo," he said.

In line with Iffa, Achmad expressed his admiration for the first time seeing Prabowo firsthand and having the opportunity to shake hands.

"I'm happy because for the rest of my life I met the President and shook hands. Amazed," said Achmad.

The idea of wearing traditional West Sumatra clothing was an initiative of the children themselves when they were told they had the opportunity to welcome Prabowo's arrival in Cairo.

"So, the idea is from elementary school children that there is a Mr. President (they) who want to welcome him. They want to participate in welcoming and participating," said Iffa Student Mayor Mochammad Khafid.

Not only students, the principal at the Cairo Indonesian School Abdul Muta Ali was also present to welcome Prabowo and expressed his hope for an Indonesia-Egyptian relationship.

"We are very proud that the President came here because Egypt was the first country to recognize Indonesia's independence. So, education is a bilateral binding for Indonesia," said Abdul.
