Neymar Will Extend His Contract At PSG, Al-Khelaifi: There Is No Reason To Leave The Club
JAKARTA - Paris Saint-Germain striker Neymar has confirmed that he will renew his contract with the club after helping them eliminate Bayern Munich from the Champions League on Wednesday.
Bayern won the second leg of the quarter-finals 1–0, but PSG qualified for the semi-finals with an away goal after a 3–3 aggregate result.
The Brazilian's current contract expires in the summer of 2022. However, after the game, he said that a contract extension was "no longer an issue" due to his level of comfort at PSG.
'It (the extension with PSG) is no longer an issue. Obviously I feel very comfortable and at home here at PSG. I feel happier than ever," he said after the game to ESPN Brasil on Wednesday.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi added that neither Neymar nor Kylian Mbappe had any reason to leave the club.
"We have invested a lot in the club to win the Champions League and all the trophies available," Al-Khelaifi told RMC Sport, quoted by Antara from Goal.
'Neymar and Kylian have no reason to leave. We really have everything to win all the tournaments."
"We had a great team today. We respect the others, but we are there with them. We're working."
'And it's not over yet. We need to move on, stay calm because the Champions League is not finished yet. We need to work harder every day.
"That belief exists. The secret is to keep working. The details also make a difference."
The contracts of the world's two most expensive players are due to expire in 2022, with Neymar seemingly closer to signing a new deal than Mbappe. The French striker has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
