High Accident Rate In 2024, Kakorlantas: Every One Hour There Are Victims Who Die
JAKARTA The Head of the Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) of the National Police, Inspector General Aan Suhanan, said that the number of traffic accidents in 2024 is still very high. Based on the data collected, an average of every hour there are victims who die due to accidents on the highway.
"Every 1 hour there are traffic accident victims who die on the highway," said Inspector General Aan, Monday, December 16.
From the data released, the number of traffic accidents throughout 2024 reached 152,000 cases, with more than 27,000 people dying.
"We have more than 152,000 traffic accidents, and more than 27,000 people died," he explained.
Seeing the high number of accidents, Kakorlantas invites the public to pay more attention to safety on the highway. One of the important steps is to comply with traffic rules in order to reduce the number of accidents.
"Want to remind again that accidents not only cause victims to die, but also risk causing permanent defects," said Aan.
He emphasized the importance of the active role of the community in reducing accidents by always obeying traffic regulations.
"The accident does not choose who will be the victim. I invite the public to jointly comply with the existing rules for the safety of all of us," he added.

Ahead of the 2024 Christmas and New Year 2025 holidays, which are usually followed by increased community activities and mobility, Kakorlantas hopes that motorists can be more careful on the highway.
"People's movement during this holiday period is usually quite high. I hope all motorists can obey the rules for mutual safety," he said. Aan also emphasized the importance of a massive traffic safety campaign to increase public awareness.
"If we continue to promote this safety campaign and convey it to the entire community, surely the decline in the number of accidents could be more significant," he concluded.
