Bulog Targets Not Importing Rice In 2025
JAKARTA - Perum Bulog has set a target of not importing rice by 2025 and total domestic production.
"Currently, we are still calculating the production and absorption of rice from farmers to meet the target of 2025 not importing rice," said Director of Human Capital Perum Bulog, Sudarsono Hardjosoekarto on the sidelines of planting tree seedlings. avocado hass in Perum Jasa Tirta (PJT) I area in Batu, East Java, quoted from Antara, Sunday 15 December.
He said that during the first planting period, it is estimated that in February 2025 it will enter the harvest period, but it is not yet certain how much production will be produced. In 2024, the absorption from farmers will reach 1.3 million tons.
Bulog, he continued, has a major role in realizing national food security through three important pillars, namely the availability, affordability and stabilization of people's food prices.
Through the pillars of availability, Bulog ensures the availability of staple food stocks throughout Indonesia, including remote areas, through a wide distribution network and reliable logistics infrastructure.
Furthermore, through the pillar of affordability, Bulog will try to maintain public access to basic food affordability, through the distribution of government rice reserves (CBP) for low-income groups of people, such as food aid rice (Banpang).
Through the stabilization pillar, he said, Bulog plays an important role in maintaining food price stability in the market through market operations and CBP management through the distribution of SPHP rice or supply stabilization and food prices.
The operation carried out by Bulog not only protects consumers but also helps farmers get reasonable selling prices. "These three pillars not only reflect Bulog's mission to support food security, but also support social balance and the community's economy," he said.
Referring to the distribution of food aid (rice) for beneficiaries, Sudarsono said, around 80-90 percent. "We are optimistic that the distribution of 2024 will be realized 100 percent," he said.
On that occasion, Sudarsono said that Bulog was in the near future collaborating with the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) regarding the Free Nutrition Food Program (BGM).
"We have communicated and coordinated with BGM. In the near future a memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be made between Bulog and BGM," he said.
