JAKARTA - The Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of Health and Tourism Sanur, Bali as Indonesia's medical tourism will soon operate at the beginning of next year. The presence of the SEZ is believed to be able to save foreign exchange of IDR 45 trillion out of Indonesia.

President Director of PT Aviasi Wisata Indonesia (Persero) or InJourney, Maya Watono, said that many Indonesians choose to seek treatment abroad. This condition makes Indonesia lose an average foreign exchange of IDR 97 trillion per year.

With the Sanur Health SEZ, continued Maya, foreign exchange worth IDR 45 trillion can be secured domestically. This means that it is not spent abroad.

"So per year, IDR 97 trillion per year. So that when we can curb this foreign exchange outflow, at least half a trillion, we can bring foreign exchange of IDR 45 trillion to this country," said Maya in Sarinah, Jakarta, quoted Wednesday, December 11.

Later, said Maya, health services at the Sanur SEZ will also provide international doctors with access to practice in the region. The goal is to facilitate the transfer of knowledge to domestic Human Resources (HR).

Furthermore, Maya said various steps were taken by the company to introduce the Sanur SEZ to the world. One of them, InJourney Hospitality through two hotels which he manages, namely The Meru Sanur and Bali Beach Hotel, held a New Year's Eve event by collaborating with singer Anggun C Sasmi.

The event was titled New Year Eve Wave of Glamour with Anggun on December 31, 2024. Anggun will perform his songs intimately with the piano accompaniment he plays himself.

"Well, this is our start of promotion for the region, for our hotels Meru and Bali Beach and also how the Indonesian people, the international community are getting to know about this special economic zone and how we prioritize also our culture in this special economic zone," explained Maya.
