Explosion At Winners Spa Makes Office Building Collapse, 7 People Fall Victims

JAKARTA - The explosion of a water heater or water Heater tube at the Winners Spa, Bulungan, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta turned out to have an impact on the office building around the scene.

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kebayoran Baru Police, Kompol Nunu Suparmi, said that 7 people were injured as a result of the incident. He detailed that 4 Winners Spa workers were injured. Meanwhile, 3 other people from behind the building also suffered injuries due to broken glass.

"There are 4 spa employees. Then, there are 3 other employees behind the spa building," Nunu told reporters at the location, Tuesday, December 10.

Nunu explained that the incident began when the Winners Spa officers heard guests shouting. Then the technician came to the voice source.

Realizing that something was wrong, security officers asked the occupants of the building to leave the room immediately. In the middle of the evacuation process, an explosion that came from a gas cylinder occurred.

There were sparks. Then they wanted to be sprayed with an APAR. However, after being sprayed by APAR, the gas cylinder exploded. And hit the victim around. Especially spa employees," he said.

During the explosion, employees rushed out until they finally fell. Even according to information, as a result of the explosion, the barrier wall of the spa building with another office collapsed.

"So there is one wall. But later the experts will explain. The three employees were also injured by panic while running and falling," he said.

Currently, seven victims have been evacuated to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.
