There Are Seeds Of Tropical Cyclone 94W, BNPB Warns 30 Governors
JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) warned 30 governors to be aware of the potential seeds of tropical cyclone 94W at this time, which is possible to trigger a disaster.
Early warning message and preparedness of the 30 provincial governments including Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Riau, Bengkulu, Jambi, South Sumatra, Bangka Belitung Islands, Lampung, Banten, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta.
Then East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Maluku, West Papua and Papua.
"BNPB expects the provincial government to instruct several efforts, first, to improve coordination with BMKG in the region related to the development of potential tropical cyclone seeds," bnpb Disaster Management Kapusdstinkom Raditya Jati said in a statement on Tuesday, April 13.
This is based on the detection of potential seeds of tropical cyclone 94W in the Pacific Ocean from northeastern Papua by the Bureau of Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG). This seed has the potential to strengthen into a tropical cyclone in the next week.
It is likely that there will be an increased potential for heavy to very heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and high waves that will occur on April 13 to 19, 2021.
BNPB Deputy Of Prevention Lilik Kurniawan said that BMKG early warning information can be used to accelerate the dissemination of disaster early warning information.
"The local government is expected to increase vigilance against the potential for extreme weather such as tornadoes, heavy rains accompanied by lightning/ lightning, and hail and impacts that can be caused such as floods, landslides, flash floods, puddles, strong winds, fallen trees and slippery roads," explained Lilik.
Then, Lilik asked for coordination between the relevant agencies and apparatus for preparedness in accordance with the main duties and functions and authorities of each. These efforts aim to prevent possible impacts.
Coordination targets risk communication directed to the community about the potential dangers of staying away from river valleys, landslide-prone slopes, fallen trees or coastal areas, especially residents living in high-risk areas.
In addition, coordination aims to prepare and manage all human resources, logistics, equipment, preparation of facilities and infrastructure for emergency management and preparation of health care facilities in accordance with COVID-19 health protocols.
Lilik also asked the local government to always be ready to evacuate residents living in high disaster risk areas, such as river valleys, barah prone slopes and the foreshore.
"Activate the disaster preparedness team to monitor the surrounding environment for early symptoms of flash floods, landslides, strong winds or high waves," lilik added.
