Former Manchester United Star Nani Retires

JAKARTA - Former Manchester United star Luis Nani announced hanging up his boots from professional football on Sunday, December 8, 2024, Portugal time.

"As everyone knows, it's all over. I've taken the time to make very important decisions."

"Maybe the most important decision in my professional life is the decision to stop playing professional players."

"As the saying goes, I will hang up my boots. However, I did it with a sense of responsibility that was fulfilled. I believe it was a beautiful career, a career full of achievements," Nani said in a statement.

The 38-year-old started his Sporting CP career before he was recruited by former Manchester United legendary boss Sir Alex Ferguson in 2007.

He then left to join Fenerbahce on a permanent contract in 2015.

Nani has played a total of 10 clubs during his 19-year career, after auctioning off in Portugal, England, Turkey, Spain, Italy, the United States, and Australia.

Lastly, he played with Estrela Amadira, his native Portuguese club, in early 2024.

Nani scored 130 goals in more than 620 professional matches and became part of the Portugal national team which secured the only Euro title in the 2016 edition.

Nani has fantastic achievements with Manchester United. He won four Premier League titles and the Champions League.
