Wow! Neta V Collision Test Gets Zero Stars From ASEAN NCAP

JAKARTA - Bad news came from the Chinese brand Neta, where recently the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) issued test results for the Neta V model.

Quoted from the official ASEAN NCAP website, Monday, December 9, the model, which is the first electric vehicle (EV) brand to be tested at the MIROS Provisional CRAGE Crash Center (PC3) in Malaysia, gave a very disappointing result with a zero star score.

"The result is to make the first model to be ranked as a zero star based on the ASEAN NCAP 2021-2025 protocol," the report wrote on its official social media.

ASEAN NCAP is please to announce our latest assessment result on the new NETA V. The followings are details of the assessment result.

The car, which is also sold in Indonesia, reached a total score of 28.55 points at an assessment of 7.89 points for the Adult Income Protection (AOP) category, 13.51 points for Child Occupant Protection (COP), 7.14 points for Safety Assist (SA) and 0.00 points for the Motorcycle Driver Safety category (MS).

The car model, which has also been marketed in Thailand to Malaysia, comes with two airbags, a driver-specific Seatbelt Reminder System (SBR), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) as standard. The model experienced an offset test frontal accident and side-collision tests in the AOP category.

Unfortunately, Neta V made the performance disappointing because it got zero points for frontal offset test with drivers receiving poor protection on the head, neck, chest, and lower right leg. In the side impact of testing, the model only got 6.31 points from 8.00 points with a dimmy received on-chest protection margin.

In addition, this model is not equipped with the Head Protecter of any Tech Equipment (HPT), which resulted in not obtaining any points for that assessment. In a dynamic assessment for the COP category, Neta V performed both in both frontal test offsets and side effects. However, the model got a bad point for System Installation Child Protection (CRS) and vehicle-based assessments. Despite having ISOFIX and top mooring equipment, the model cannot have a friendly installation of equipment up to more than half of the ASEAN NCAP recommended CRS list.

New EV hatchbacks do not offer Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) for City and InterUrban, Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keep Assist (LKA) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW). In addition, all technologies assessed by ASEAN NCAP based on MS categories such as Blind Spot Technology (BST), Auto High Beam (AHB) and Pedestrian Protection (PP) are not available in this model.

Based on ASEAN NCAP's tests, frontal offset testing showed poor results on front passengers, starting with a weak body structure and disrupting a restraint system that seriously endangered the safety of car passengers.

"Therefore, without this important technology for seat belts, the impact will be higher at risk of injury to dolls tested for touching the steering wheel or air bag, as proven through this test," the statement said.

It was also stated that the recent ownership of electric vehicles has become a trend among vehicle consumers in the southern region of East Asia. The design of style and attractive devices installed in the car is certainly an attraction for road users to buy these vehicles.

"Even so, the safety of the features contained in the car is also an important point to pay attention to when buying a car. Neta V's disappointing result in NCAP's ASEAN assessment is a reflection of other EV brands not to compromise basic safety equipment in cars," added the statement. ASEAN NCAP.
