BMKG: Potential Rain In Most Of Indonesia Today
JAKARTA The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) estimates that rain with various intensities will hit most parts of Indonesia, including major cities, today, Monday 9 December.
BMKG forecaster Adinda Dara Vahada explained that the Sumatra Island area will generally experience rain. Light rain is predicted to occur in Banda Aceh, Tanjung Pinang, Padang, Bengkulu, Palembang, and Pangkal Pinang. Meanwhile, Medan is expected to experience moderate rain, and rain accompanied by lightning is likely to occur in Pekanbaru, Jambi, and Bandar Lampung.
For the Java region, light rain is predicted to occur in Bandung and Yogyakarta, while moderate intensity rain has the potential to hit Serang. In Jakarta, Semarang, and Surabaya, BMKG estimates rain accompanied by lightning.
In Bali and Nusa Tenggara, thunderstorms may occur in Denpasar, Mataram, and Kupang.
The Kalimantan region will also experience light rain, especially in Samarinda and Banjarmasin. Pontianak City is predicted to be foggy, while thunderstorms are expected to occur in Tanjung Selor and Palangkaraya.
In Sulawesi, light rain has the potential to fall in Gorontalo, Palu, Kendari, and Makassar, while rain accompanied by lightning is likely to occur in Mamuju. Manado City is forecasted to be thick cloudy.

Eastern Indonesia, such as Ternate, Sorong, Manokwari, and Jayapura, is expected to experience light rain. In Nabire and Jayawijaya, moderate rain may occur, while Merauke is predicted to experience thunderstorms. Ambon City, different from other areas, is thought to be only foggy.
BMKG urges the public to remain alert to the potential for heavy rain that can cause inundation or flooding in several areas, as well as prioritize safety in outdoor activities.
