PIS Collaborates With PLN To Build LNG Infrastructure In North Papua

PT PLN Energi Primary Indonesia (PLN EPI) agreed to cooperate with Papua and the Consortium fronted by PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) and PT PGN LNG Indonesia (PLI), PT Environmental Technology International (ETI), as well as PT Apca Tirta Engineering (APCA), for the plan to develop land regasification facilities or Land Based Regasification Plant and floating regasification or Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) LNG.

This collaboration is part of the LNG midstream infrastructure development program for power plants in the North Papua area.

This agreement was marked by the signing of the Joint Development Agreement (JDA) by all Papuans with the Consortium and PLN EPI, last Monday.

In the JDA agreement, Papua together with the Consortium and PLN EPI agreed to conduct studies and plans for the construction of energy and electricity infrastructure in the form of floating regasification facilities (FSRU) with a capacity of up to 12,500 CBM and land-based regasification plant facilities with a capacity of up to 8x500 cubic meters.

PIS Business Planning Director Eka Suhendra explained that this is a collaboration for infrastructure development projects that are relatively new to the company.

"This collaboration provides us with the opportunity to grow more. We thank PLN EPI for trusting, and we are sure that this collaboration will be carried out to provide more reliable electricity in Eastern Indonesia," said Eka, Friday, December 6.

Eka explained that this project is also expected to provide tangible benefits for the community, support national energy security, and become a tangible manifestation of Pertamina's commitment to the Company's Long-Term Plan (RJPP) document.

"PIS continues to strive to contribute in realizing sustainable energy resilience, in line with the spirit of SOE synergy," he added.

Eka also emphasized the importance of an intensive discussion process between Papua and the EPI Consortium and PLN.

"This process is an important step in perfecting every detail of the project in order to ensure the success of its implementation," he said.

Through this collaboration, PIS together with Consortium partners hope to create a significant positive impact, both for the national energy industry and the wider community.
