Jokowi Calls Himself "Indigenous Party" After Hasto Affirms Not Part Of PDIP

SOLO The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), emphasized that he is now an "individual party." This was conveyed in response to the statement of PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto who said that Jokowi and his family were no longer part of the PDIP.

"Yes, it means that the party is an individual," said Jokowi briefly when answering media questions in Solo, Thursday, December 5, 2024.

When asked further about the possibility of joining other political parties, Jokowi remained consistent with his answer. "His party is becoming an individual," he said firmly.

In fact, when asked whether there was an offer from another political party after Hasto's statement, Jokowi again replied, "Individual parties. I have already answered, individual parties."

On the other hand, Jokowi was reluctant to comment on the meeting between his youngest son's ex-lover, Kaesang Pangarep, Felicia Tissue, and Hasto Kristiyanto. When asked for a response, Jokowi only answered briefly, "Yes, just ask there."

Previously, Hasto Kristiyanto made a surprising statement at a press conference at the PDIP Party School, Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, Wednesday afternoon. He said that Jokowi and his family were no longer part of the PDIP.

"I reiterate, Mr. Jokowi and his family are no longer part of the PDI-P," said Hasto.

This statement raises speculation about the relationship between Jokowi and PDIP, the party that has been his political vehicle since the beginning of his career in government. Until now, there has been no further information regarding the cause of this strained relationship.
