KARAWANG - The Foster Parent Movement Movement Prevent Stunting (GENTING) has been officially launched by the Ministry of Population and Family Development (Kemendukbangga)/BKKBN, in Mulyasari Village, Karawang, on Thursday, December 5, 2024.

This program was launched by the Ministry of Education and Culture/BKKBN in collaboration with UNFPA, the UN agency for sexual health and reproduction and human rights.

GENTING is an aid movement for families at risk of stunting through the concern of the parties as foster parents being part of efforts to prevent and accelerate stunting reduction. Foster parents (OTA) are parties who act as aid providers consisting of elements of the government, local governments, BUMN, BUMD, individuals/individuals, NGOs/communities, the private sector, universities/academics and the media.

Menduk bangga/Head of BKKBN, Wihaji said that there are 4 things that are the main focus of the GENTING program. Starting from nutrition to access to clean water for the community.

"The main focus will be 4, namely nutrition, access to clean water, education, and healthy latrines," said Wihaji in Mulyasari Village, Karawang, on Thursday, December 5, 2024.

To fulfill nutrition in order to prevent stunting, the GENTING program will provide nutrition intake worth IDR 15 thousand for newborns, for a thousand days.

Then through this program, we will also build a toilet bath (MCK), public facilities that are used together for bathing, washing, and urinating in various regions.

In addition, the program also plans to build livable houses for people in need. The construction of facilities to access clean water will also be carried out.

Meanwhile, stunting prevalence according to data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI) was recorded at 21.5 percent, with 8.7 million Stunting Risk Families (KRS). This figure should be lowered to 18 percent in 2025, and GENTING is one of the steps to reduce it.
