Minister Of Transportation Predicts 59.52 Million People Traveling Using Private Vehicles During Christmas And New Year Holidays
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) predicts that as many as 110.67 million people will travel during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays. Where, 59.52 percent or the majority of the people will use private vehicles when traveling.
Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi said the data was taken from a survey conducted by the Ministry of Transportation.
"The main choice of using private vehicles is 53.78 percent or around 59.52 million," he said during a working meeting with Commission V of the DPR, in Jakarta, Wednesday, December 4.
Dudy also detailed that 36.07 percent or 39.92 million people would use cars. Meanwhile, the remaining 17.71 percent or 19.6 million people will use motorbikes.
Meanwhile, he continued, the number of people using public transportation is lower than that of private vehicle users. Referring to the survey results, it was recorded that 48.71 million people would use public transportation in various modes.
The details, 15.04 percent or 16.64 million people use buses. 12.85 percent or 14.22 million people use intercity trains. Then, 8.85 percent or 9.8 million people use planes.
"4.9 percent or 5.43 million people use ferry boats, and 2.37 percent or 2.62 million people use ships," he said.

Dudy said the results of the survey were also corrected by realization in the field referring to the movement of the moments of the previous year.
As a result, said Dudy, the figure gave rise to a smaller number compared to the results of the survey earlier.
"Bus is 6.54 million, intercity trains are 3.44 million, planes are 4.14 million, ferry ships are 3.40 million, and ships are 2.38 million," he said.
