Giant Carrion Flower Blooms Perfectly In West Lampung Liwa Botanical Gardens
One individual Amorphophallus Titanum corpse flower was found to bloom perfectly again in Taman Araceae Kebun Raya Liwa, Pekon (Village) Way Admits, Balik Bukit District, West Lampung Regency.
Head of UPTD Kebun Raya Liwa (KRL) Khoirul Ummur said, the rare event occurred again where there was a giant corpse flower species that returned to perfect bloom after a long time it had never been seen.
"This flower is also known for its various names such as Titan Arum, Kibut, and Suweg, which are referred to as corpse flowers because it emits odors such as rotting carcasses," he said when confirmed, Wednesday, December 4, was confiscated by Antara.
According to him, corpse flowers are plants from the endemic talas-talasan (Araceae) family from Sumatra, which is known as plants with the largest plural flower in the world.
"The function of the foul smell is to invite fireworks and flies to pollinate the flowers, moments like this are very rare on KRL so this can be said to be one of the rare moments," he said.
He explained that this natural phenomenon is a new attraction for visitors in the area and strengthens the potential of the Liwa Botanical Gardens as an educational tourist destination.
"In addition to being an endemic plant, this can be a natural tourist attraction that attracts the attention of visitors to see firsthand the beauty of this corpse flower blooms in the KRL park, one of the educational tourism destinations," he said.
Therefore, Khoirul invites the whole community to come to KRL to witness the beauty of the corpse flower which is rarely seen.
