11 Subdistricts In Cianjur Experience Floods-Longsor, BPBD Sends Karet Boats And Tents

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) sent joint officers with supporting equipment for handling, such as rubber boats and evacuation tents to 11 sub-districts in Cianjur which were hit by floods and landslides.

Head of BPBD Cianjur Asep Kusmana Wijaya said the rainfall that had fallen since December 3-4 caused landslides, floods, and ground movement to hit dozens of sub-districts in Cianjur, especially the southern region.

"Temporary data on 27 natural disaster points hit the southern region, such as floods in Kadupandak, Agrabinta and Sindangbarang. Meanwhile, landslides occurred in Cibeber, Pagelaran, Cibinong, Pasirkuda, Leles, Cijati, Tanggeung and Naringgul sub-districts," he said in Cianjur Wednesday, December 4, confiscated by Antara.

As a result of natural disasters, he continued, the main road connecting between sub-districts in the southern region was cut off by landslides and collapsed, the impact of ground movement that occurred as it rained heavily since Tuesday night, so vehicles could not pass.

Currently, joint officers consist of BPBD, TNI/Polri, Retana, PMI Cianjur, and independent volunteers, are deployed to a number of locations to carry out quick handling by carrying equipment, such as rubber boats and tents for evacuation when needed.

"Joint officers also bring logistical assistance to affected residents, various steps are taken, including evacuating residents living in affected areas and facing natural disasters," he said.

His party also asked village and sub-district officials in the southern region to urge residents to increase vigilance and preparedness and immediately evacuate if they see natural signs of a disaster.

It is recorded that most of the Cianjur areas are included in the second-highest disaster-prone red zone in West Java, especially during the past week the high rainfall has fallen evenly throughout the region from north to south.

"All residents who live in disaster-prone areas from north to south are alert and alert, because information from the BMKG for high rainfall will hit Cianjur for the next three days, especially the southern region," he said.
