Ahead Of The Christmas And New Year Holidays, KAI Replaces Kayu's Pillow With Synthetics

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI has replaced the wooden pads with synthetic pads on the railroad steel bridge. This synthetic pillow is an innovation of KAI based on environmental sustainability.

"This step is an important part of KAI's preparation for the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year (Nataru) holidays," said KAI Vice President Public Relations Anne Purba in an official statement, Wednesday, December 4.

Furthermore, Anne said the reason for replacing the bridge bearings was because synthetic pads were more environmentally friendly, durable, and efficient.

These synthetic plants are stronger, resistant to extreme weather, and do not require felling trees to be produced. By replacing 15,864 logs bearing wood, KAI also supports environmental conservation while increasing infrastructure care efficiency," he said.

Anne said KAI had set the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays which took place from 19 December 2024 to 5 January 2025.

Regarding the total seating provided by KAI Group in the Nataru period, Anne said it reached 44,754,280 seats. Consisting of 3,572,588 KAI Passengers.

Then, 35,407,300 KAI Commuter Passengers, 4,142,520 Jabodebek LRT Passengers, 588,304 South Sumatra LRT Passengers, 7,416 KAI Wisata Passengers, 487,728 KAI Airport Passengers, 29,160 Makassar-Parepare and 519,264 KCIC.

"The total number of KAI Group trips is 40,782 trains," he said.

Furthermore, Anne said the details were 7,328 train trips managed by KAI, 23,204 train trips managed by KAI Commuter, 1,872 train trips managed by KAI Airport, 5,598 Jabodebek LRT trips, 1,772 South Sumatra LRT trips, and 36 trips managed by KAI Wisata.

"As well as 108 Makassar-Parepare train trips and 864 KCIC-runASH trips," explained Anne.
