Bahlil Gives A Signal That Ojol Drivers Can Still Subsidy Fuel Through The MSME Scheme

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia gave a signal that online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) will continue to receive fuel oil (BBM) subsidies, using a micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) scheme.

"The Ojol will be included in the MSME category," said Minister Bahlil, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, December 4.

Minister Bahlil said that currently his party is conducting an exercise to differentiate vehicles belonging to ojol and those that are not, considering that the fuel subsidy scheme for transportation was previously distributed to vehicles with yellow number plates or public transportation.

"For ojol, which is currently happening dynamics, we are currently indexing it so that how to distinguish which ojol business black plate is not," he said.

Bahlil explained, the scheme for providing fuel subsidies for MSMEs will be carried out through incentives or reducing the price of goods, and not through direct cash assistance (BLT).

"All MSMEs will most likely be subsidized in materials. So if he is oil, we will not transfer it to BLT," he said.

According to him, his party is currently still waiting for the data matching carried out by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) as the basis for one data on the formulation of fuel and electricity subsidies to be right on target. "When it's finished, we will announce it," said Bahlil.

Previously, he stated that the government was preparing three options for the distribution of fuel oil subsidies (BBM) and electricity bills to be right on target.

First, diverting all fuel subsidies to direct cash assistance (BLT). The second option is to maintain fuel subsidies in the form of goods for all transportation and public facilities. This is done to curb inflation, while most subsidies for the community are transferred to the form of BLT.

The third alternative is to increase the price of subsidized fuel.
