Pelni Predicts December 19 To Be The Peak Of The Homecoming Flow For Christmas And New Year Holidays
JAKARTA - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT Pelni (Persero) predicts that the peak of homecoming and the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays (Nataru) will occur on D-6 or December 19.
Pelni is also committed to providing reliable and prime transportation.
Nuraini Passenger Transport Business Director Dessy W estimates that 27,941 people will travel by Pelni at the peak of the homecoming flow or December 19.
"Central Indonesia areas such as Makassar, Baubau, Balikpapan to NTT are the biggest contributors to 40 percent," he said in an official statement, Monday, December 2.
For the central region, continued Dessy, there are at least 11 Pelni passenger ships serving the area, followed by 11 other ships for the eastern region and 4 ships for the western region.
Furthermore, Dessy said the densest segment for the central area was Makassar-Baubau with a projected passenger reaching 7,172 people during the Naru period, followed by Baubau-Makassar with 6,598 people, and Surabaya-Makassar with 4,723 people.
The Nataru period for Pelni is calculated from December 11, 2024 to January 8, 2025. For the reverse flow itself, it is estimated that it will occur on January 6, 2025 or D+12 with the projected passenger reaching 22,315 people," he explained.
Dessy also reminded that Pelni ship tickets can be obtained in all official ticket sales channels provided by Pelni and those in collaboration with Pelni.
"Customers or prospective Pelni ship passengers can take advantage of digital channels such as the Pelni Mobile application or the official Pelni website," he said.
Pelni ship tickets can also be obtained in various banking applications such as the Lifestyle BCA Mobile feature, Sukha Livin Mandiri, and BNI agent46, the Indomaret and OMI network of Indomaret partners, Alfamart and Alfamidi networks, ATA Tour, Fastpay, easybook.com, via.com, MMBC, Indonesian Darmatourism to Versa and Totindo.
For payments, Pelni has collaborated with Bank BTN, BRIVA, BNI Vortual Account, Permata Bank, Mandiri virtual account, Indomaret and OMI Indomaret partners, Alfamart and Alfamidi networks, iSaku, Finpay, and Fastpay.
Dessy said the use of digital sales channels is in line with the direction of the Ministry of SOEs which continues to encourage Pelni in carrying out business transformation and information technology-based services.
Pelni also always coordinates with the Ministry of Transportation to ensure smoothness and security during the Naru period.
In Nataru 2024/2025 this year, Pelni will operate 25 passenger ships belonging to, plus 30 pioneer ships assigned by the Ministry of Transportation to Pelni.
"This year, the total capacity of 25 Pelni passenger ships is 48,323 seats serving 72 ports, plus a total pioneer ship capacity of 11,889 to serve 236 ports," he said.
