The Importance Of Social Media Control In A Contemporary Situation To Prevent Youth Immunity

JAKARTA - The murder case of father and grandmother in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta, shocked the public. In the case involving children, clinical psychologist Reza Indagiri Amriel said there were five things that investigators needed to pay attention to.

Residents at Bona Indah Housing, Lebak Bulus, Cilandak, South Jakarta, were suddenly shocked by the arrest of a teenager with the initials MAS by the police. This 14-year-old boy killed his father, APW and grandmother, RM, at his home at around 01.00 WIB. In addition, AMS also attacked his mother but was rescued.

Until this writing was revealed, it was not yet known what the motive for the child's murder was for his father and grandmother, as well as injuring his own mother. But the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Gogo Galesung, explained that from the examination while the perpetrator admitted that he received a'reflection'.

"He felt he couldn't sleep, then there were things that whispered to him, disturbing him, like that," said Gogo.

"We are still investigating, we cannot draw conclusions yet," he continued.

It has been the umpteenth time that a child with a legal case has occurred in Indonesia. Regarding the case that befell MAS, he is known to be quiet by neighbors around him. Therefore, this murder case shocked various parties.

Commissioner of the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) Dian Sasmita emphasized that not all children grow up and have a response according to adult expectations. According to Dian, children's growth is greatly influenced by various factors, both from family and surrounding environment parenting.

"The fulfillment of families and educational environments has a major contribution to children's lives. Because most of their time is spent in these two environments," said KPAI Commissioner Dian Sasmita in her statement.

Dian added the importance of increasing awareness of good and loving parenting in society. An educational environment that is free of violence and supports the development of children's character.

"It's our job together to create a better environment for children," he said.

Meanwhile, forensic psychologist Reza Indragiri Amriel emphasized that there are different perspectives for adult and child actors. In contrast to adult perpetrators, children's perpetrators in Indonesia are protected by the Law on the Child Criminal Justice System which was formed to protect and maintain in particular the dignity of children who still have a future.

For this reason, the emergence of malicious behavior in children, including what MAS did recently, Reza highlighted at least five things that need to be studied. Not only from parenting, but also how the perpetrator socializes both in real life and in cyberspace.

First, said Reza, it is necessary to find out whether there is a possibility that this child has a special mental condition as well as whether there is a possibility that the person concerned has abused prohibited substances, whether it is narcotics, psychotropic substances, or other additive substances.

The second needs to find out the fantasy of violence against the perpetrators also needs to be considered.

"Talking about violent fantasy means it's relevant to identify what he's reading, what sites he's visiting, what kind of movies or shows he's seeing, what his dreams are like," Reza told VOI.

"This will help us understand how this kid expresses or builds fantasy about violence," he added.

According to Reza, the third thing that must be researched is to analyze the pattern of expression of anger, whether it is different from other children or not. Furthermore, to deal with cases like this, it is also necessary to check the stability of the perpetrator in the educational environment.

"Does it have a problem with lessons at school, has it been DO, has it never gone to class, and so on," said Reza.

No less important is to analyze social relations, either with peers, schoolmates, neighbors, or relationships with family including parents.

After examining the five things that have been mentioned, it is likely that we will conclude what factors are the most dominant behind the naughty' behavior in children.

Referring to the results of the study, there are two things that are the dominant factor, namely relationships with family or parents and friendship relationships. Regarding friendship relationships, according to Reza, it is also necessary to investigate how the relationship is on social media, including in WhatsApp groups, Facebook friendship or other social media.

"This is a social relationship that needs to be studied in contemporary situations like now," he said.

The consequences, we have to be extra careful in giving children access to devices or social media. Even if it's impossible to give a ban, it needs tighter control or control," Reza added.

He also gave an example of how policies in Australia tighten the use of social media. Reza emphasized that the country only allows children aged 16 years and over to access social media.

Does Indonesia need to imitate the country's policies? This is something that Reza said, because in today's era it makes a lot of sense to be aware of the possible dangers of gadgets and social media.

"It could be a source of misinformation, information about violence, information about the wrong adaptation process, coming from the internet, from social media. This is what we need to try to strengthen so as not to disrupt children's lives too much," Reza said..
