116 Rohingya Immigrants Stranded In East Aceh Relocated To Shelter
BanDA ACEH - A total of 116 Rohingya immigrants stranded in Kuala Ujung Perling, Paya Peulawi Village, Bireuem Bayeun District, East Aceh Regency, were relocated to temporary shelters in Seunebok Rawang Village Field, East Peureulak District.
Head of the Political, Government and Security Division of the National Unity and Political Agency of East Aceh Regency, Syamsul Bahri, said the Rohingya ethnic immigrants were combined in a shelter location with 47 other Rohingya immigrants who already exist in East Aceh Regency.
"They were transferred from Kuala Ujung Perling to the Footprint Field of Seunebok Rawang Village, the temporary shelter location for Rohingya immigrants on Sunday (1/12) night," said Syamsul Bahri as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, December 2.
He said the 47 Rohingya immigrants were the remaining ones of the 230 Rohingya immigrants who landed in East Aceh Regency in early February 2024 and late October 2024.
"Of the 230 Rohingya immigrants who landed in East Aceh, 173 others fled from the shelter and 10 others were transferred to Makassar, South Sulawesi, and to shelters in Pidie Regency," he said.

So far, said Syamsul Bahri, the Rohingya immigrants have been directly guarded by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Likewise, Rohingya consumption is facilitated by IOM, an international migrant institution.
"We hope that the Rohingya immigrants can be moved to a more representative place because of the temporary shelter now, in the open field," said Syamsul Bahri.
Previously, as many as 116 Rohingya ethnic immigrants were stranded in Kuala Ujung Perling, Paya Peulawi Village, Bireuem Bayeun District, East Aceh Regency, after their motorboat sank on Saturday (30/11) at around 03.00 WIB.
Of the 116 Rohingya immigrants, 32 of them are boys, 46 are girls and 15 are boys, and 23 are girls.
