Prabowo's Ambition Of The Economy Grows 8 Percent, Bahlil Aims For Electricity Consumption Per Capita Of Up To 6,300 KWh

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) as well as Daily Chair of the National Energy Council (DEN) Bahlil Lahadalia plans to boost electricity consumption per capita of the Indonesian people to 6,300 kWh.

Bahlil said this was in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto's target, which wanted to increase Indonesia's economic growth by up to 8 percent.

"To encourage energy sovereignty, we continue to study, discuss and find solutions so that we can carry out things that have been directed by Pak Prabowo's policies, including the RUPTL, encourage economic growth of 6-8 percent," he said in a Working Meeting with Commission XII DPR RI, Monday, December 2.

Bahlil said, this has been stated in the 2021-2030 Electric Power Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) which targets consumption per capita to reach 6,300 kWh per capita.

The reason, he said, was that if the electricity consumption was only 5,000 to 5,300 kWh per capita, the economic growth was still below the percent mark.

"We will push more than 6,000 so that when economic growth occurs, there will be no energy crisis," Bahlil continued.

Previously, the electricity consumption target per capita ranged from 4,000 to 5,000 KWh per capita. With this target, he continued, the economic growth that was formed was only 5 percent.

Just so you know, it is recorded that Indonesia's per capita electricity consumption has continued to increase since 2017. Most recently, in 2023 the realization of electricity consumption on average for everyone in Indonesia will reach 1,285kWh per capita. This figure increased from 1,173 kWh per capita in 2022.
