Meet With Commission XII, Bahlil Discusses PLTN Development Plan
JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) who also serves as Chairman of the National Energy Council (DEN) Bahlil Lahadalia revealed plans for further development of Nuclear Power Plants in Indonesia.
Bahlil said, in 2025 the DEN will focus on discussing the rules related to PLTN.
The reason is, he targets PLTN to start operating in 2032,
"Regarding 2025, we are starting to focus on discussing the rules related to nuclear because in 2032 in the program we think it's not just starting but if possible there will be better roads," Bahlil said in a Working Meeting with Commission XII, Monday, December 2.
Bahlil added, during 2024, the preparations that have been made by the DEN to develop PLTN are by forming the Nuclear Energy Implementation Committee (KP2EN).
He also said that his party had compiled a draft Presidential Regulation (Perpres) on the Nuclear Energy Implementation Committee.
"We have also conducted socialization and discussion of PLTN in supporting the energy transition to NZE 2060," he added.

Furthermore, Bahlil said, PLTN is a breakthrough that must be made by the government by setting targets to start operating in 2032.
Bahlil assessed that the establishment of PLTN could reduce the value of electricity costs as well as go to NZE.
"In the early stages, not on a large scale, maybe we have spots of 250 to 300 MW. But in the future we will make it to a better scale," said Bahlil.
