BPS Records Capai 11.57 Million Foreign Tourist Visits Until October 2024
JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the cumulative number of foreign tourist visits or foreign tourists to Indonesia in the period January to October 2024 reached 11.57 million.
Plt. Head of BPS Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said that until October 2024 cumulatively it had increased by 20.45 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
Even so, Amalia said that when compared to the same period before the pandemic in 2019, it was still lower, which was 16.10 million visits.
"Although the number of foreign tourist visits in November 2024 continues to increase, it is still lower than the same period before the pandemic," he explained at the Press Conference, Monday, December 2.
Amalia noted that throughout October 2024 the number of foreign tourist visits reached 1.19 million visits or decreased 6.68 percent compared to the previous month. However, foreign tourist visits actually increased 22.01 percent on an annual basis.

Based on the type of entrance, the number of foreign tourist visits in October 2024 through the main entrance was 1.04 million visits and border entrances were 156.53 thousand visits.
The number of visits through the main entrance is dominated by foreign tourists with air transportation modes which contribute 82.88 percent, while foreign tourists with sea and land transportation modes are only 14.20 percent and 2.92 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, based on the national visit of foreign tourists in October 2024, the highest number of visits from Malaysia was 194.1 thousand visits, Australia as many as 150.5 thousand visits and Singapore as many as 106.3 thousand visits.
