Wuling Not Interested In Making MPV 7 Seater Electric Cars In Indonesia

The presence of a new car brand in Indonesia makes the choice of electric cars even more diverse, and the electricity Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) segment is now starting to get in demand.

Currently, the segment is filled with M6 MPV electricity from BYD which officially launched last July. This one model is also classified as selling well, even after officially launching it, it is claimed to be in demand by more than 1,000 units.

Not only BYD, currently the electricity MPV segment is also filled with several more brands, including from Altera which has an L8 ev model, the model was officially introduced at the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) event some time ago.

Seeing the increasing variety of segments, is Wuling not planning to play in that segment?

"When we talk about electric cars, the shape is not yet seen, what many (models) are," said Wuling Motors Public Relations Manager Brian Gomgom when met some time ago in Tangerang.

According to the man who is familiarly called Gomgom, Wuling sees the use of electric cars as different from the ICE version, especially from the capacity.

"Because most electric cars are used for daily routines, such as work, college and shopping with a capacity of two to four people," he added.

For this reason, the electric car presented by Wuling is still adequate and answers consumer needs in Indonesia. Wuling currently has three electric car models, namely Air ev, BinguoEV, and Cloud EV.

The three environmentally friendly vehicles are still in demand by Indonesian consumers and are included in the top 10 best-selling electric cars in October 2024.

Each wuling electric car model has a different distance. For example, Wuling Air ev offers up to 300 kilometers, BinguoEV up to 410 km, and Cloud EV up to 410 km. Regarding the price, the Chinese brand sells from Rp190 million to Rp400 million.
