PDIP Claims Central Java Remains A Banteng Kandang Despite Losing The Gubernatorial Election

JAKARTA The results of the Central Java gubernatorial election in 2024 show that the Andika Perkasa-Hendrar Prihadi (Hendi) pair promoted by PDIP lost to Ahmad Luthfi-Taj Yasin. However, PDIP remains optimistic that Central Java is still a "bullet cage."

The chairman of the PDIP DPP, Deddy Sitorus, emphasized that the people of Central Java's trust in PDIP remains high. This is evidenced by the dominance of PDIP in regional head elections at the district/city level as well as legislative elections.

"If we look at the 35 regencies/cities in Central Java, as many as 19 regions or 54% still choose Banteng cadres. We would like to thank the people of Central Java who have shown their trust in PDIP," said Deddy on Sunday, December 1.

Deddy also highlighted the acquisition of Andika-Hendi's votes in the gubernatorial election which reached around 40%. According to him, this figure is much greater than the PDIP's acquisition in the 2024 Legislative Election which is in the range of 25.6%.

"This means that Banteng voters are still loyal to PDIP. The acquisition of Andika-Hendi's votes is almost double the legislative vote. This is proof that Central Java remains a home for the marhaen," said Deddy.

Although the results of the 2024 Central Java gubernatorial election did not side with the couple promoted by PDIP, Deddy reminded the winning pair not to be too late in euphoria.

"About the governor, I just want to tell the winner: don't be too proud, because you actually won, but there are other factors that influence it," said Deddy without elaborating.

PDIP remains optimistic about the political dynamics in Central Java and nationally. "Disadvantage in one field does not mean the loss of PDIP dominance in Central Java. We will continue to maintain and strengthen public trust in this party," concluded Deddy.
