AHY Strives For Transportation Connectivity From Aceh To Papua

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) seeks transportation connectivity from Aceh to Papua to support equitable development throughout Indonesia, ensuring transportation network connectivity throughout Indonesia.

"We want Aceh to Papua to really be well connected, land, sea and air," AHY said when speaking at the 2024 Kadin National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Monday, December 2.

According to him, smooth transportation connectivity from Aceh to Papua to support equitable development throughout Indonesia. So he emphasized the importance of all regions of Indonesia being well connected in all modes of transportation.

"This is where I and the ranks of the Ministry of Transportation are trying to be part of that," said AHY.

He said that transportation connectivity has a close relationship with logistics cost efficiency. High transportation and logistics costs are the main obstacle in the economy, especially for humans, goods, and services.

Therefore, AHY together with the Ministry of Transportation, which is under the coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, are committed to reducing these costs.

"ConNECTION is of course closely related to how we facilitate and at the same time reduce costs of transportation, cost of logistics. Human mobility, goods and services are currently relatively high in cost," he said.

On that occasion, AHY also explained that transportation infrastructure development is not only limited to physical development, but also aims to reduce transportation ticket prices, especially aircraft.

He hopes that the price of airplane tickets can be more affordable for the community, especially at certain times such as holiday transportation and the big holiday season.

He admitted, over the past two weeks, AHY and his staff have been working to formulate policies that can reduce plane ticket prices, especially during the holiday season such as Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025, plane ticket prices have fallen by 10 percent.

This step is carried out as part of an effort to ensure that people can access transportation at lower costs.

"So over the past two weeks, we have been working, trying to reduce at least the aircraft ticket financing structure. During Christmas and New Year," explained AHY.

He hopes that there will be support from various parties so that this policy can run smoothly and provide benefits for the community.

In addition, AHY also invited the entire community to participate in disseminating information about the policy.

"So if there are ladies and gentlemen who can tell this to others, hopefully with the support of all parties, we hope to reduce ticket prices for the community. Especially during holidays, high seasons. Christmas and New Year, Eid al-Fitr, and so on," said AHY.
