Coordinating Minister Airlangga Calls The Government Efforts To Equitable Revenue Per Head Of 10 Thousand US Dollars In 2030

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said that the government continues to strive to equalize per capita income by 10 thousand US dollars nationally by 2030.

Airlangga on the sidelines of attending the 2024 Kadin National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) in Jakarta, Sunday, December 1, said that currently the average per capita income for Indonesians has only reached 5 thousand US dollars.

"We project our growth, our GDP (Gross Domestic Product/Gross Domestic Product/GDP), which is 5 thousand (US dollars) today, is targeted to reach 10 thousand (US dollars)," said Airlangga, quoted from Antara.

Even so, he mentioned that currently there are areas where per capita income reaches 20 thousand US dollars such as Jakarta, East Kalimantan, South Sumatra, and Central Sulawesi.

"Today GDP is in Jakarta with 20 thousand (US dollars). There are many other areas if we talk spatially in East Kalimantan, South Sumatra, Central Sulawesi, our GDP is already above 10 thousand," said Airlangga.

Therefore, Airlangga invites all parties including the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) to contribute to equalizing national income per capita by 10 thousand US dollars in 2030, thus, all Indonesians can get out of the middle income trap.

"It's our job is how to flatten this GDP not only based on the region but nationally," he said.

One of the strategic efforts made is through the Digital Economy Framework Agreement. According to Airlangga, ASEAN is the first region in the world to raise the issue of the digital economy into multilateral cooperation, surpassing large organizations such as the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development or organization (OECD), the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), or the European Union.

In last year's OECD ministerial meeting, Airlangga conveyed the vision of a Digital Economy Framework that even received special attention from OECD countries looking to learn from ASEAN's experience.

"With the Digital Economy Framework Agreement, which is as usual as ASEAN's digital economy, the amount is 1 trillion US dollars in 2030. But with the implementation of the Digital Economy Framework Agreement, the ASEAN economy can increase to 2 trillion US dollars, meaning that from there Indonesia can reach 600-800 billion US dollars," he explained.

In addition, the government will also prioritize equitable distribution of GDP through increasing education, investment, and trade.

Airlangga is optimistic that this step will open up new opportunities for exports and imports that support national economic growth.

In addition, education is also one of the keys to improving the quality of labor in various regions, so that Indonesia's competitiveness at the global level is getting stronger.

"The government believes that we can do this by encouraging equity, education and also how we open investment, trade, imports and exports," said Airlangga.
