The Cost Of The Gubernatorial Election Is Too High, The Governor's Study PKB Is Directly Appointed By The Government

JAKARTA - The National Awakening Party (PKB) is currently reviewing the governor being appointed directly by the Central Government or through the DPRD mechanism, this was said by the Chairman of the PKB faction of the DPR RI Jazilul Fawaid because the cost for governor election was too high.

"The governor's function is only the coordinator. Because we are the regional autonomy regime," said Jazilul as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, November 30.

He gave an example of the Pilkada in West Java, where to find a governor whose function is only as a coordinator, he must spend a budget of more than IDR 1 trillion.

Jazilul continued, this condition is certainly not ideal for the governor's performance. Such a large budget can be used for more useful and basic things, especially education and health.

Jazilul said that the budget is only for one region, not to mention in other provinces.

"If a school is made, so how many schools? That's the budget in West Java. If it's for school renovations, I think it's enough to renovate schools in West Java," he said.

Jazilul added that the PKB was studying the gubernatorial election to be abolished by being replaced through a direct appointment mechanism, as well as through the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD).

According to him, the election for governor when going through the DPRD only needs one ballot box, but when chosen immediately requires thousands of ballot boxes.

"It is better to leave it to the DPRD, it is simple, the public may be able to provide input to parties or other institutions that can then be advanced," he said.
