Ahead Of Nataru, The Ministry Of Transportation Invites Aviation Actors To Improve Safety

The Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (Ditjen Hubud) invites all perpetrators to improve flight security ahead of the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holidays.

Director of Aviation Security, Capt. Sigit Hani Hadiyanto said that the current situation is the right momentum for all air transportation stakeholders to continue to improve flight security.

This was conveyed by Sigit at the 3rd National Aviation Security Committee (KNKP) meeting in 2024.

"Given that it will soon enter the period of 2024 Christmas Air Transport and 2025 New Year (Nataru), the right moment for all air transportation stakeholders to continue to improve flight security," he said in an official statement, Friday, November 29.

In addition to the safety aspect, Sigit said flight security is also an important aspect to ensure the smooth implementation of flights, especially during the Nataru air transportation period.

"Together, let's increase our vigilance against various potential disturbances to flight security. Hopefully, the implementation of Nataru this time can run smoothly and there will be no security threats for flights," said Sigit.

Regarding the flight threat, Sigit revealed several threats such as pelvic weapons that are dangerous for low-flying aircraft, to potential flight personnel exposed to radicalism.

Then, continued Sigit, conflict areas in the world or missile launch areas for tests without publication, and there is still the potential for the entry of probable items into aircraft.

"For this reason, socialization is also conveyed regarding the Circular of the Director General of Civil Aviation regarding the use/carrying of e-cigarettes (vapes) on airplanes," he said.

Previously, it was reported that the Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, revealed that based on the survey results, the potential for community movement during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year (Nataru) periods reached 110.67 million people.

This was conveyed by the Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi at the Coordination Meeting of the Minister for Preparation for Nataru 2024/2025 which was held at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenko PMK).

"We have conducted a survey. As a result, the potential for community movement when Nataru 2024/2025 reached 110.67 million people. Most of the movements occurred in Java, including agglomeration. This number is what we anticipate," he said in an official statement, Friday, November 22.

Dudy said the prediction of the peak of the first outflow will occur on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, while the prediction of the second peak of the flow will occur on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.

"Meanwhile, predictions for the peak of backflow will occur on Wednesday and Thursday, January 1 to 2, 2025," he explained.
