JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) has returned to repatriate 21 of the 91 Indonesian citizens (WNI) suspected of being victims of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons (TPPO) in Myawaddy, Myanmar.

"Alhamdulillah, there are 21 Indonesian citizens from Myawaddy who will be sent back to Indonesia," said Director of Protection for Indonesian Citizens-BHI of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Judha Nugraha as reported by ANTARA, Friday, November 29.

He said the 21 Indonesian citizens would arrive at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten, on Friday night.

The 21 Indonesian citizens are part of the 91 remaining Indonesian citizens, after previously the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs repatriated 44 Indonesian citizens suspected of being victims of TIP from Myawaddy, Myanmar, on November 22, 2024.

"We can update that as of today there are 91 our citizens in Myawaddy," said Judha Nugraha after attending the Coordination Meeting with the Ministry of Protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) in Jakarta, Friday (22/11).

According to him, on that day, 44 Indonesian citizens could be returned to Indonesia.

Judha said the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs made various efforts to help their repatriation, including by communicating the whereabouts of the 91 Indonesian citizens to the Myanmar Government.

"In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs conducts some informal communication with various stakeholders in the area," he said.
