Jorge Martin Suspects Ducati Regrets

JAKARTA The 2024 MotoGP world champion, Jorge Martin, suspects Ducati may regret their decision not to promote him to the main factory team.

Martin was initially given the green light by Ducati that he would be promoted from Pramac to join Francesco Bagnaia in the Italian factory team in the 2025 competition season.

However, Ducati later changed that decision after Marc Marquez refused to move from Gresini to Pramac. The team then recruited the six-time world champion to become Bagnaia's tandem.

Jorge Martin, who did not get a place, then decided to join Aprilia. All of these decisions were made when Martin had not confirmed himself to become world champion.

"When all this is decided, I am not a champion. It is difficult to know these things. However, it is clear that at this time they may regret it," Martin said as quoted by Crash.

Rumors of Martin's move to the first team actually strengthened in May 2024. The Spaniard is said to be replacing Enea Bastianini.

However, in early June 2024 news emerged that Ducati preferred Marquez. The news was later confirmed after Martin made an announcement that he would leave for Aprilia.

"Please ask them whether they regret it or not, directly to them. In the end I just thought about myself. Life takes you to unexpected places," said Martin.

Martin has succeeded in coming out as world champion this season to break Bagnaia's dominance. The half of them won the title until the last series.
