Fully Supported By The Government, MICE Encourages Increased Indonesian Tourism

JAKARTA - The MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry is increasingly recognized as one of the important sectors that can encourage tourism growth in Indonesia.

As a country with extraordinary natural wealth, culture, and diversity of tourist destinations, Indonesia has great potential to utilize the MICE industry as a tool to promote tourism and accelerate economic recovery.

With the right support from the government and the private sector, the MICE industry can be the main driver in Indonesia's more sustainable and inclusive tourism development.

Deputy for Tourism Products and Activity Organizers, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, Vinsensius Jemadu, highlighted the increasing strategic role of the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry in encouraging Indonesia's economic growth.

Vinsensius explained that MICE's business has a significant economic impact because it involves many business actors in various segments, including its supporting industry.

This was conveyed by Vinsensius at the opening Ceremony Homelife event presented by PT Meorient Exhibition International. This event simultaneously presents 10 B2B exhibitions from 27 November 30, 2024 at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo).

"The Ministry of Tourism is now preparing concrete steps to increase the sustainability of the MICE sector," said Vinsensius, when met at JIExpo Kemayoran, Pademangan, Central Jakarta on Thursday, November 28, 2024.

"One of them is by mapping out MICE venues that meet sustainability standards and improving the quality of venues that do not meet international standards," he continued.

Vinsensius said the government is targeting to accelerate the development of sustainable MICE with readiness by 2030. In addition, the Ministry of Tourism is also developing the MICE.id platform which aims to become a center of information and aggregator that connects all stakeholders in the MICE industry.

"Through MICE.id, it is hoped that all sectors involved can access information more efficiently, thus supporting more appropriate business decisions and accelerating the development of this sector," Vinsensius said.

This event presents 10 B2B exhibitions simultaneously from 27 30 November 2024 at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta. The ten exhibitions include: Building and Decoration Expo (BDE), Homelife Expo, Applications & Electronic Show (AES), Furniture & Decoration (DeFu), Power & New Energy Expo (PNE), International Textile Expo (INTEX), Asia Baby, Children, and Maternity Expo (ABC MOM), ASEAN Sport Show, Jakarta Audio Video Music Expo (JAVME), Jakarta Pet Expo (JPE), and Machinery Expo.
