20 Cikutra TPU Tombs Affected By Jebol Embankment, Bandung City Government Make Sure There Are No Hanyut Bodies
JABAR - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) relocated as many as 20 graves affected by the collapsed embankment at the Cikutra Public Cemetery (TPU), Bandung City on Wednesday 27 November.
Head of the Cipta Karya, Bina Infrastruktur, and Spatial Planning (Disciptabintar) Office of Bandung City, Bambang Suhari, confirmed that no body was washed away by the current in the incident.
"We have transferred two bodies to Block E3 on the day of the incident. Today, we are targeting the relocation of 18 other graves," said Bambang in Bandung, Thursday, November 28, as reported by Antara.
Bambang revealed that his party had communicated with the heirs of the affected bodies. Several heirs also asked that their families' bodies be moved to other locations, such as Cimahi, Jakarta, or Blok F TPU Cikutra.
Some of the heirs were about to be transferred to Cimahi as many as three bodies, to Jakarta one. Then to Block F TPU Cikutra close to the grave of his family there is also one body," he said.
Bambang himself targets the process of relocating all the bodies from the affected graves to be completed today. It is planned that most of the bodies will be relocated to Block E3, which is located on the ground higher than the original tomb.
"I want it to be finished today, hopefully it won't rain. And you can see the funeral process in Block E3 above," he said.

Furthermore, he ensured that his party would continue to monitor the situation, especially if heavy rains occurred again.
Bambang asked the heirs of the affected graves to understand the emergency steps taken by the government.
We ask for understanding from the heirs. This transfer was carried out to maintain the safety of the bodies. The bureaucratic mechanism takes time, so we immediately act to avoid more severe damage," he said.
