Pilkada 2024 Simultaneously Smooth, Indonesia Praised By Timor Leste
Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam) Budi Gunawan said the president of Timor Leste Jose Ramos Horta appreciated the Indonesian government because it was considered successful in holding simultaneous regional elections.
This appreciation was conveyed by Jose to Budi when he met at the celebration of the Timor Leste Anniversary which was held today.
"Mr. Ramos Horta also praised Indonesia as the best democracy," he said. Because he had succeeded in carrying out the simultaneous regional elections peacefully and smoothly," said Budi Gunawan when met at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Thursday.
According to Jose, Budi continued, simultaneous regional head elections in Indonesia are difficult to do because of the large number of residents and election contestants.
In addition, a large area is also one of the challenges faced when they want to hold simultaneous regional elections in Indonesia. Therefore, Jose really appreciated the success of the government in holding the regional elections.
Not only praising the Indonesian government, Budi also said that Timor Leste opens opportunities to cooperate in various ways in order to strengthen bilateral relations.
"In the meeting, we also discussed various things, especially how to increase and develop cooperation in the bilateral sector in all fields," he said.

The signal of cooperation was also captured by the Indonesian government by planning President Prabowo Subianto's visit to Timor Leste to discuss the cooperation further.
"He (Prabowo) wants to visit in the near future, in order to strengthen and develop various collaborations with Timor Leste," said Budi.
With this cooperation, Budi believes that bilateral relations between Indonesia and Timor Leste will be closer and strengthen each other's positions in each country.
To note, Budi Gunawan today carried out President Prabowo Subianto's orders to attend the celebration of the Timor Leste Anniversary. During the meeting, Budi admitted that he was welcomed by Jose Ramos Horta and his staff.
