After completion, this flyover has been operational and provides benefits for unraveling congestion nodes due to traffic meetings from Jalan Basuki Rahmad Jalan R. Sukamto and Jalan Amphibi' Jalan Angkatan 66 in Palembang City.

The Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, said that the construction of connectivity infrastructure is needed so that the mobility of goods, services, and human beings is more efficient.

With smoother connectivity, it is hoped that it can increase regional economic growth. Thus, it will help accelerate development in the region.

"The construction of the Sekip Ujung Flyover will facilitate connectivity and traffic accessibility. In addition, it also provides alternatives for residents to increase economic productivity," said Dody in a written statement, Wednesday, November 27, 2024.

The Sekip Ujung Flyover was built from 2022 to 2024 with a length of 660 meters (m). Consisting of 190 m (bridges), 160 meters (oprit on the side of Jalan Basuki Rahmad), and 310 meters (oprit on the side of Jalan R. Sukamto).

Land acquisition was also carried out by the South Sumatra Provincial Government and the Palembang City Government.

The construction of this road infrastructure uses the Mortar Busa Technology so that it can reduce about 50 percent of the implementation time compared to soil piles.

To increase the comfort of road users, this flyover is also equipped with LED lighting with a pole distance of every 40 m from the initial oprit to the tip of the oprit.

The flyover display is also decorated with beautification of building ornaments by prioritizing local art and culture so that it can beautify the face of Palembang City, including the landscape in the lower flyover area.

"Ornaments for beautification in the form of songket panels which are native woven fabrics of South Sumatra."

"This songket chain will certainly increase attractiveness and show cooperation between the South Sumatra Provincial Government, Palembang City Government, and the central government," he added.
