JAKARTA - The Palu Class III Women's Prison in Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi facilitated 175 correctional inmates (WBP) to channel their voting rights to the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada) in the area.

The head of the Palu Women's Prison, Udur Martionna, in Maku, Wednesday, said the number of inmates who participated in the election was 175 people.

"So far, 185 women's prison occupants (27/11) with 175 prisoners from Central Sulawesi," said Udur as quoted by ANTARA.

He stated that based on the Permanent Voter List (DPT), 160 people consisted of 144 detainees and 16 other officers.

"Furthermore, 15 people are included in the Additional Voter List (DPTb), namely 13 detainees and two prison officers," he said.

He said, most of the detainees in the Women's Prison were not Sigi Regency people, so not all of them received ballots for the election of the Regent and Deputy Regent of Sigi.

"Only 26 people received two ballots for the election of the Governor and Deputy Governor of Central Sulawesi as well as the Regent and Deputy Regent of Sigi, while the other 149 used their voting rights for the gubernatorial election," he said.

He explained that his party was collaborating with the Sigi Regency KPU to ensure that all detainees in the women's prison who met the requirements could vote in the 2024 Pilkada.

"Essentially, we provide equal opportunities for inmates who are registered as voters to be able to channel their voices safely and orderly," he said.
