Ukraine Attacks Russia Again With ATACMS Missiles

JAKARTA - Ukraine has attacked Russia with two ATACMS missiles produced by the United States (US) over the past three days. Russia is preparing for retaliation.

Russia's Defense Ministry said the two attacks targeted Russian troop positions in the Kursk region. The first attack occurred on November 23, and two of the five missiles launched into Russia's S-400 air defense system hit the target, damaging its radar system.

In the second attack, on November 25, eight missiles were aimed at Kursk-Vostochny airport, which is also the location of a military air base.

One missile hit the target, injuring two soldiers, the Russian Ministry of Defense said.

"The ministry is in control of the situation and retaliatory measures are being prepared," he said.

As previously reported, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Ukraine's attack on the Bryansk region in Russia used the ATACMS missile supplied by the United States (US). The use of ATACMS missiles is a clear signal that the West wants to increase the conflict in Ukraine.

"The fact that ATACMS was used repeatedly in the Bryansk area overnight, of course, is a signal that they want an escalation," Lavrov, speaking in Rio de Janeiro, told reporters.

"Without America, it is impossible to use this high-tech missile, as Putin has repeatedly said," Lavrov said.

Russia says Ukraine fired six US-made ATACMS missiles into the western region of Bryansk.
