KPU Ensures Victims Of South Tapanuli Flash Floods Will Still Vote For Regional Head Elections, TPS Has Been Moved
The General Election Commission (KPU) has ensured that the 2024 Pilkada in villages affected by flash floods in South Tapanuli Regency (Tapsel) will continue to be held on November 27, 2024.
The head of the Tapsel KPU, Zulhajjji Siregar, said that his party had taken various efforts so that democratic parties in villages affected by the flash floods would still be held.
"The polling place (TPS) 02 of Sipange Siunjam Village, Sayur Matinggi District was moved. The location is not far from the TPS which was previously determined or 150 meters away," said Zulhajjji Siregar, in Siringok, Tuesday, November 26, which was confiscated by Antara.
He explained that there were 510 people who would use their voting rights at TPS 02 according to the final voter list (DPT) of the South Tapanuli Regional Head Election, consisting of 255 men and 255 women.
"TPS 02 Sipange Siunjam Village was moved to a tent made by BPBD Tapsel," he said.
Currently, he said, his party together with related policy makers are strengthening coordination for the distribution of logistics that will be used in Sipange Siunjam Village.
"The regional government and the Tapsel KPU hope that the regional election process will run smoothly even in the midst of disaster challenges. Even though it is affected by the disaster, it is still possible for residents to carry out their voting rights safely and comfortably," he said.
