Jakarta Pilkada Tomorrow, The DKI Provincial Government Will Not Have Odd Even
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) has eliminated the odd-even vehicle policy due to the simultaneous 2024 regional head elections (Pilkada) on Wednesday.
"In connection with the national simultaneous regional elections on Wednesday, the odd-even provisions on various roads in Jakarta have been abolished," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) Syafrin Liputo when confirmed in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, November 26.
Syafrin said the policy was a follow-up to Article 201 Paragraph (8) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 10 of 2016 which stated that the national simultaneous vote in regional head elections (pilkada) was held in November 2024.
Then, Article 84 paragraph (3) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 of 2015 concerning voting is carried out on holidays or holidays.
Then, General Election Commission Regulation Number 2 of 2024 concerning the Stages and Schedules for the Election of Governors and Deputy Governors, Regents and Deputy Regents, as well as Mayors and Deputy Mayors of 2024.
Article 3 paragraph (3) of the Regulation of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Number 88 of 2019 concerning traffic restrictions with an odd-even system is not enforced on Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays stipulated by a Presidential Decree.
Finally, the Circular Letter of the Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 of 2024 concerning the implementation of holidays for workers or laborers on days and voting dates for General Elections and Elections for Governors, Regents and Mayors.
Nevertheless, Syafrin appealed that people who want to travel must adhere to traffic rules and instructions from officers in the field, so that traffic conditions in Jakarta remain safe and orderly.
"We will continue to regulate traffic so that traffic conditions in Jakarta run smoothly, safely and orderly. We also urge the public to continue to obey traffic rules and instructions from officers in the field," said Syafrin.
The 2024 Jakarta Pilkada vote will take place on November 27, 2024. The DKI Jakarta KPU has determined three pairs of candidates (paslon) for the governor and deputy governor of DKI Jakarta to run in the DKI Jakarta Regional Head Election (Pilkada) on Sunday (22/9).
