Coordinating Minister For Political, Legal And Security Affairs Reminds Criminal Sanctions For Non-Netarl Officials In Pilkada

Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam) Budi Gunawan again reminded that there were criminal sanctions for officers from the TNI and Polri who were not neutral during the 2024 Pilkada period.

He explained that the provisions governing criminal sanctions had also been upheld by the Constitutional Court Decision (MK) Number 136/PUU-XXII/2024.

"The quality of the regional elections is of course also strongly determined by the neutrality of all organizers, including the security apparatus, ASN, regional officials to the village level. Moreover, this has been confirmed by the Constitutional Court's Decision Number 136/PUU-XXIII/2024 concerning criminal sanctions for non-neutral officials," said the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 25.

BG explained that the government together with KPU and Bawaslu as well as the TNI and Polri continue to coordinate intensively to ensure that the 2024 Pilkada takes place in a transparent, honest and fair manner.

The KPU scheduled the 2024 Pilkada voting to take place simultaneously on November 27 in 545 regions, consisting of 37 provinces, 93 cities, and 415 districts.

"We hope that this simultaneous regional elections in 2024 can produce quality regional leaders, who are trustworthy, and are able to encourage prosperity in various parts of Indonesia," said Budi Gunawan.

In a joint meeting with related agencies, several matters related to the technical implementation of voting, including anticipating potential threats and distribution of election logistics to polling stations.

"We from the government have mapped vulnerable areas, both from the security aspect as well as from the technical aspects of implementation, including related to logistics distribution, then damaged ballots, and validation of a permanent voter list, including mapping disaster-prone areas," said the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.

Budi Gunawan said the mapping had been carried out and various steps to anticipate various problems had been made so he was optimistic that all election logistics could be sent to the TPS-TPS on time and the public could vote for the regional head of their choice on November 27, 2024.
