Accommodating Apindo's Proposal Regarding The Minimum Wage Of Industry, Minister Of Manpower Yassierli: Will Be Considered Later
JAKARTA - Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Yassierli revealed that his party has accommodated proposals from the Indonesian Employers' Association (Apindo) regarding the minimum wage in certain industries, including labor-intensive industries.
"They conveyed that there are several types of industries that are experiencing financial difficulties, please pay attention to them, then they are usually related to economic conditions, investment absorption and so on, they will be considered later," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 25.
He explained that there had been no decision regarding the proposed labor-intensive industry minimum wage proposed by Apindo.
In the meeting for more than an hour, he admitted that there had been no decision and was more dominated by accommodating proposals.
"We have put everything in, meaning that we have done the MEANingful participation," he said.
Then about the issue of the distribution of the two categories of wages in the Minister of Manpower and Manpower of the 2025 UMP determination, he also rejected this and called it only a discussion material.
"No (the division of the two wage categories) was initial discussions, the essence is that we want to protect companies that are experiencing financial difficulties, how, it turns out that it is not as simple as separating labor-intensive labor-intensive," he said.
However, the focus or purpose of this is that the Ministry of Manpower wants to increase workers' income while still paying attention to business competitiveness.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Employers' Association (Apindo) for Manpower Bob Azam revealed that during a meeting with the Minister of Manpower, Apindo discussed increasing productivity and wages.
As well as several proposals regarding labor-intensive industries, so that labor-intensive investors in Indonesia continue to grow.
"We just say that there need to be considerations. So that it is labor-intensive, it also continues to invest in Indonesia," he said.
