Indramayu Police Arrest Prison Employees Involved In Circulation Of Methamphetamine, Hidden In Fans
The Narcotics Investigation Unit of the Indramayu Police, West Java, revealed a case of circulating methamphetamine at a local prison involving a prison employee with the initials T.
Indramayu Police Chief AKBP Ari Setyawan Wibowo said this case was revealed after the prison held an internal raid, then coordinated with the police regarding the circulation of methamphetamine.
During the raid, 25.8 grams of crystal methamphetamine was found, which was hidden in a water channel in the inmates' cells.
"The prison carried out raids and found packages in cigarettes containing methamphetamine-type drugs. The items were hidden in water culverts," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 15.
From the results of the development, he said, prison officers again found 15.15 grams of other methamphetamine hidden behind a fan in the cell area.
He conveyed that based on the information collected, the goods were smuggled through lights and entrusted to prison employees, namely T.
The police chief said that this employee allegedly played a role in helping the smuggling of methamphetamine into prisons. In addition, his party is still pursuing the main supplier of the narcotics.
"From the results of the investigation, the methamphetamine was taken from outside and entrusted to person T through a lamplight," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of Class IIB Indramayu Prison Hero Sulistiyono revealed that his party gave disciplinary sanctions to T employees by prohibiting them from entering the office or prison area.
"We have processed elements of T and gave disciplinary punishment. In addition, security in prisons will be tightened to prevent prohibited goods from entering," said Hero.
In addition to imposing sanctions on employees, the prison also conducted urine tests on all inmates. The results showed that 10 inmates tested positive for drugs.
"For seven inmates who are not involved in drug trafficking, disciplinary sanctions are given in the form of placement in special cells and revocation of visiting rights. We recognize this incident shows negligence, and ensure stricter supervision in the future," he said.
