After Echoing Rumors Of Cristiano Ronaldo's Recruitment To Fenerbahce, Mourinho Now Even Denies The Issue
JAKARTA - Fenerbahce's manager, Jose Mourinho, has dismissed claims that he will try to bring Cristiano Ronaldo to Turkey.
In fact, previously the Portuguese manager echoed rumors that he would reunite with Ronaldo at Fenerbahce after he spoke by telephone.
However, when confirmed again regarding the news of Ronaldo's arrival from Al Nassr at the end of this season, Mourinho replied jokingly.
He only mentioned that Ronaldo was most likely going to Turkey to make an appointment to eat together.
"The news about Cristiano Ronaldo to Fenerbahce is ridiculous. Cristiano may come to Istanbul to eat."
"The problem is, it is right in the middle of the road between Saudi Arabia and Portugal. Or maybe he will come to meet his old friend Jose (Mourinho). We can eat at my hotel," said the Portuguese coach.
Mourinho coached Ronaldo during his term at Real Madrid. Both helped Los Blancos win La Liga titles in 2011/2012, Copa del Rey the previous season, and Supercopa de Espana in 2012.
Ronaldo is currently no sign of renewing his contract with Al Nassr. As is known, the 39-year-old striker's contract will expire at the end of the 2025 season.
Apart from that, Fenerbahce faced a tough task with a target of winning the Turkish Super League title in the first year of Mourinho.
Currently, Fenerbahce is five points behind arch rivals, Galatasaray, after 12 league games.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo and Al Nassr will try to bounce back from the 1-2 defeat to Al Qadsiah on Friday, November 22, 2024, in the Saudi Arabian Pro League.
They are eyeing a win while competing in the AFC Champions League Elite (Liga Champions Asia Elite) on November 25, 2024, WIB night, against Al Gharafa.
