Land Update Landslide Karo: 9 Bodies Found, One Person Missing
The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Karo Regency, North Sumatra (North Sumatra), stated that the landslide disaster that occurred in Semangat Gunung Village, Merdeka District, resulted in nine deaths and one person was declared missing.
"Until now, nine have been found dead and one is still being searched," said Head of Emergency and Logistics Division of BPBD Karo Panji Surianto as reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 25.
His party together with related policy makers involved in the evacuation process previously found four fatalities as a result of the unfortunate incident that occurred on Saturday (23/24) that night.
"Since last night afternoon, four have been found. Today five more victims have been found," he said.
Until now, Panji emphasized that the search for victims is still being carried out which involves various policy makers related to using heavy equipment in a number of locations.
In addition to casualties, he added that the disaster also damaged two houses, one inn, and one house of worship.
"The access road connecting Semangat Gunung Merdeka Village to Doulu Village was completely cut off. Farm and fishery land in Merdeka Village was also damaged, and others," he said.
His party together with related policy makers have shared efforts after the landslide, including cleaning up landslide material and searching for victims who were declared missing.
"Two landslide points have been successfully cleared and access to the location where it is suspected that residents buried by landslides can be reached," he said,

The dead victims who have been found and identified are Efriyandi Surbakti (male-31 years old), Yusnizar (62 years old woman), Farhan Putra Nugraha (male 31 years old), Muhammad Subhan Anas (male 43 years old), and Healthy br Surbakti (female 65 years old),
Then, Elya Agustina (54-year-old woman), Eliza Hilmawa Br Surbakti (4-year-old woman), Ema Sari (27-year-old woman), and Pia Br Surbakti (8-month-old woman).
The victim who is still in the search process is Jihan Selviani (23-year-old woman), a resident of Semangat Gunung Village, Merdeka District.
