Music Becomes Sean Ono Lennon's Way Of Getting To Know John Lennon

JAKARTA - Sean Ono Lennon, son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, revealed the reason he chose to continue to make music. The 49-year-old man said making music had helped fill the void left by his father.

"I've never played music because I'm good at it," said Sean, starting the story of his musical journey, during a recent interview with People.

"I lost my father and I don't know how to fill that void. Studying how to play his songs with a guitar is a way to overcome those losses, with activities that make me feel connected to him," he continued.

Sean calls it motivation. He feels better about his father, who has a big name, when he makes music.

"When you lose your parents, things like that motivate you, because you're trying to find them. Making music always makes me feel like I know him better," he said.

Throughout his musical journey, Sean Ono Lennon has released several solo works, including the album 'Asteroids' which was released this year. He also received Grammy Awards nominations for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package re-issued by John Lennon's 1973 album, "Mind Games".

"All these albums are about my mother," said Sean.

My father told the world that 'John and Yoko' is one word. I think he always put his heart to him. He loves him so much. They have legendary love and I think this album is filled with that love. You can hear it, "he added.

During the re-release of 'Mind Games', Sean also talked about how different his father's work was after leaving The Beatles

One thing that distinguishes my father's solo career is how personal his lyrics are. It's like a daily book, and it's my job to draw attention to my father's music. It's not just my job to him, but my duty to the world," he said.

"With the world like it is now, people have forgotten so many things I never imagined could be forgotten. I refuse to let that happen to this music. It means a lot to me," he said.
