Late Winter, Ski Resort In Japan Makes Artificial Snow

JAKARTA - This year's winter came in some areas in Japan, which overwhelmed the ski resort. One of them is the Rokkosan Snow Park ski resort on the edge of Kobe City, Japan.

The ski resort opens at the end of November every year, and will pamper visitors with various snow games. However, like the late snow on Mount Fuji, the Kobe area also feels the same way.

Reporting fromzehi Shimbun, Monday, November 25, 2024, Kobe feels a warm autumn and snow that should have gone down before winter does not come down. This makes Rokkosan Snow Park have to make artificial snow to keep it open right at the end of November.

The resort has produced 240 tons of artificial snow every day since last month. The artificial snow was made using a large ice-making machine.

Artificial snow is then stacked to mimic mountains on slopes of 260 meters long and covered with sheets, which protect it from sunlight, wind, rain, and fog. Just before the opening, the snow will be smoother to create new slopes.

Thus, the opening of the Rokkosan Snow Park will be carried out according to the schedule every year, namely on November 30, 2024. This year, the conveyor belt lift will be introduced in the glide train area, to make it more enjoyable for families and children.

Meanwhile, Japan's warm autumn was proven with an average temperature rising 2.7 degrees Celsius last October, and lasted until winter. The warm temperature is certainly a problem for winter tourist destinations in the country.
