JAKARTA - More than 1,000 doctors and nurses have been killed in the Gaza Strip, Palestine as a result of Israeli attacks since late last year, authorities said Sunday.

"More than 310 other medical personnel were arrested, tortured, and executed in prison," a medical source said in a statement.

"The Israeli army has also prevented the entry of medical supplies, health delegations and hundreds of surgeons into Gaza," he continued.

"Hospitals have become a real target for Israeli soldiers, who bombed, surrounded, and stormed them, killing doctors and nurses, injuring others after directly targeting them," the statement said.

Director of Kamal Hospital Adwan Hussam Abu Safiya, was injured in Israeli airstrikes against the facility and the surrounding area of northern Gaza on Saturday.

The second year of genocide in Gaza has drawn ever-increasing international condemnation, with figures and agencies labeling attacks and blocking aid shipments as a deliberate attempt to destroy a population.

Yesterday, local health authorities confirmed the death toll from the Israeli attack since October 7, 2023, had risen to 44,211 fatalities, while 104,567 people were injured. The majority of victims were women and children.

On Thursday, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
